cacti identification

I have yet another wee lil plant that needs identifying (sorry  )..
I've had this little guy for a while now and I was just wondering. I think he's still a baby and he has soft white tufty "spikes"

I'm not even sure he's still alive (I got him from a souvenir market stall in Barcelona) is there a way you can tell?

Also when I repotted it a month ago its roots were very short and small. I'm not sure why. Before repotted it it was this little cup (its now in a pot about 5 times the size)

It looks good. Cacti can stay in small pots. It is better to under pot than over pot. It will keep the succulents smaller longer.

Yet another ribbed, columnar cactus. They all look largely the same.
