:? my bleeding cactus

:? so yea I'm kinda new at growing cactus ive had 2 types of cactus for like 7 years now but ive never made a cutting and so my 10 year s kinda looks like its going to die so I wanted to save some of it if it does die and when I made the cut on some of its newer branches and it started to bleed O.o lol here is a vid of it bleeding

so um yea why is it bleeding?

(also I think the cactus will live I think it was just dieing because we had it in the same soil for like 5 years to it had no "plant food" in the soil so I potted it with new soil and it looks a lot better)

The bleeding is normal. Most cacti will do that when the skin is scraped or cut. Good luck with the cutting. :D. Also, it was a good idea to freshen the soil after 5 years. That will help a lot. Cheers

and also do you know how these cacti reproduce normally because ive have this for 6 years and it never flowered or made little "babie cacti" at the base so I don't see how these would live in the wild

I personally don't know how that cactus reproduces, but there is a good chance that it's by seed only. I would do a search on your cactus to possibly find out more. Or maybe someone here knows. That's all I have, sorry.

well I looked for it for a bit just now and I think I found it https://www.cactuspedia.info/schede/EUPH ... lactea.htm but technically its not even a cactus O.o and the "blood" from it may have been latex witch happens to be poisonous......

Wow! Good job man! That looks like your cactus there with quite a bit of info on it. As it says under propagation, cuttings are the only way to propagate. That must mean it reproduces by seed only. Make sure you wash your hands if you get any of that latex on you ;). Good Job!

I have one of these cactus. Mine is almost all white called the Ghost cactus. These cactus are very poisonous. It is my least favorite cactus because it does nothing. Never makes flowers. It does not seem to grow either. Its about as much fun as a plastic artificial plant. Keep pets and children away from it.

I like cactus that grows 6" to 12" during the summer of faster.

I'm pretty sure Gary was not referring to you, when he mentioned children. He just meant other people and animals.
