Succulent mix

Until I can order pumice and coconut coir, I'm stuck with planting mix, sand, and perlite. My question is: Is it really better to have 1/3 parts sand, and 1/3 parts perlite with 1/3 parts planting soil? Or could I just do 2/3 parts perlite, and 1/3 part planting mix, if I don't have the coarse desert sand? Just curious

I'd be using 1/3 sand, 1/3 pearlite (or oystershell), and 1/3 pine bark mulch (sometimes called soil conditioner)... YMMV

Cool thanks! I'll look for that pine bark mulch. It would sure drain better than planting mix.
