Help Identifying a Couple Plants

I've more or less inherited some plants that I'd like to take care of, only I don't know what they are exactly. Was hoping someone could help me identify them so that I may properly care for them.

1. Crassula ovata, aka Jade Plant. Very easy to care for - just give it a little water when the soil is completely dry to the depth of your second knuckle.

2. Looks like maybe Chamaeodora, or Parlor Palm. Can you show us a closeup of the base of the plant, please?

Here ya' go, also for the Jade, how much sun does it need? It gets probably 2 hours a day of direct sunlight. It seems healthy but I'm wondering if it'll get any bigger?

In California, jades grow into large trees if planted outside in the ground. :)

Really?! I'd love to plant it in the ground but sadly that's my step father's territory. So all I have is pots. Is their growth stunted whilst in a pot?

Somewhat stunted. As it grows larger, repot it in larger containers. I've seen potted jades as tall as 3 feet and as big around. One word of warning, though, the larger it gets the more likely it will be to topple over and be damaged. The branches are quite brittle.

If you place the growing pot inside a decorative cache pot, in which you've placed rocks in the bottom, the added weight of the cache pot will add stability to the growing pot, preventing the plant from falling over and being damaged.

If I can't find a decorative pot I like, I just use a large terra cotta pot. Anything that adds weight will keep the plant from falling over. :)

3 feet eh? That sounds fantastic as I think it's a good looking plant. And that plan for the weight thing also sounds like a good plan. Thanks a million!
