I use a commercial mix specifically designed for cacti and succulents. I've used a variety of different brands over the years. You want to make sure it drains really quickly, so look for one that is coarse, with a lot of sand, gravel, perlite, etc.

What kind of succulent are you going to plant? For some, such as Crassula, I mix in some regular potting mix with the cacti/succulent mix ... about half and half. But if you're planting a cactus, use the cacti/succulent mix as is, without mixing anything into it. :)

Thanks. I 'm planting just succulents, no cacti, so maybe should do the half and half mix. Have you ever made a succulent wreath? I love the way they look . If so, any tiPs on that?
