jade question
Hi we are going to have a few days of drizle on and of with posible thunder showers. Is it safe to leave my jade outside. As long as I do not water it and let nature take care of it? And not water it. thanks.
It really depends on how bad spring storms are in your area. In my area, for instance, we get storms all winter long that are nothing but plain old rain. But in the spring, a storm can involve a lot of wind, which leads to falling trees and branches. Or it can involve hail. We never get very large hailstones here, but they can still damage an easily broken plant, like a jade.
So, my advice is that the water is the least of your concerns. If there's going to be wind, maybe hail, or rain coming down really hard, your jade could be broken. That's why I suggested that you put it under some kind of shelter, if possible.
If the spring storms where you live are just gentle rains, then I wouldn't worry about it. It's a decision you have to make for yourself, based on your knowledge of your local weather. Under an awning would be fine, IMO. I don't think under a tree would be good, if there's a likelihood of even small branches coming down on the jade.
