Pics of my succulents

I joined this forum but was sad to realize we don't have our own profiles! (or do we?) So I wanted to post pictures of my little indoor garden and want to invite anyone to ask questions or give tips.

I have many many succulents- ponytail palms, burro tails, sedums, echeverias, aloes, cacti, AND a great little collection of interesting Haworthia plants! Haworthias come from South Africa, and are little gems for sure!

Please enjoy!

This is a shot of my ponytail palm collection, probably have seen them before.

Here is my community pot. I have 4 succulents in here. I have Sedum winkieri, Sedum clavatum, Echeveria dondo, and a small unknown one!

My favorite Haworthia, H. mutica x3. I got these 3 at Home Depot, actually, which started my obsession with Haworthia plants! Two have exploded, and one has remained tightly packed like my profile picture (same individual). Some of you may know these plants as "window plants" because of the transparent windows at the tip of the leaves that help filter out the harsh South African sun.

Here's a shot of my Haworthias

H. cuspidata. These are 2 of the cuspidatas which came together. I happened to put them in differently sized pots, and look at the difference in size between the two! The one on the left was in a smaller one, and even though now in the same sized pot, it is still much smaller. Both H. Cuspidata's flowered early- March 20 or so. I am expecting another flower stalk on the smaller one.

Two pics of H. retusa var retusa fa touchei. Same individual plant.. I just think it's pretty.

Another beauty, the H. cooperi var. cooperi. AN excellent specimen to look at the windows for.. The tips of the leaves (are they called leaves??) are completely transparent. In the sun, these plants GLOW!

H. cymbiformis var. lepida, not the prettiest of the bunch (no big beautiful windows).. right now it has a tiny flower stalk emerging, and it will flower soon!

H. turgida var turgida fa rodinii- So pretty! When it came in the mail, it was bright red on top from either too much sun or too little water (or both). Now you can see it is 90% green again. THe closeup shows the awesome speckles and stripe pattern the leaves have! This one has flowered twice already, and has 2 more stalks poking through.

I need more pics, but this is the H. cymbiformis var cymbiformis. It glows in the sunlight too, but it's leaves and rosettes are very tightly packed. I just took a juicy cutting from it and hope it will take root soon!

The above haworthias are from the excellent succulent online seller SMGsucculents.com

I also got some (the ones from the community pot) from jadepoint.com

What else do I have:

My burro tails! The first 2 pics are from the very ailing/old one my grandmother gave me. Apparently I watered it way too little for fear of root rot, and it lost 90% of its beans! (I call them beans, what do you call them?) So, I took a few cuttings from the old one, and have observed new growths on the old one as well. Below, the fatter, shorter ones are from jadepoint.com. In a few short weeks/months, look how much they have grown! They said "vigorous grower" indeed!

Here is my String of Hearts. I'm not sure if it is a succulent.. online says yes, and expert said no.. hm. It is very similar to String of Pearls, but the leaves are not spherical. Cuttings do, however, take root like a succulent.

My two aloe variegatas

The community pot before I replaced pumice with smaller pebbles, and I took out the H. muticas and the H. tortousa tortatella (sp?). You can see how young the Sedum winkieri (bring green left) and the Sedum clavatum (powder blue/green right) are, and compare them to the above picture of what they look like now.

I really hope you've enjoyed my little tour. Now.. advice, critiques, questions and comments WELCOME! [/img]

Oh my goodness! Those plants are so healthy and beautiful! You are definitely keeping them this healthy. I now am going online to buy a Howerthia plant! Also, do you know where to get a ponytail palm? You've inspired me! :D

Thank you!

Ha you are very welcome. I hope you find some really cool plants! I think you can get a grown ponytail palm (1-2 ft high) at IKEA, perhaps a home improvement store, I know online stores probably have them too, I just haven't looked because I have quite a few already.

Well so far I have posted two other messages but do not know where they ended up. I need to know how you got the aralia to grow so beautiful. Your cacti are gortgeous as well. You belong in Az not Chicago. I used to be in Mt. Prospect. Now in Prescott, Az. Do not know how to attach the photo yet or I would show you my sad looking Ming.
