Plant identification please.

My mother gave this to me at the start of the year, she had it in a concrete planter for many years and the location was quite shady, it hasnt really grown alot for some time, Now, in our front garden it gets alot of sun and upon inspecting it tonight I noticed it is now starting to flower, my mother seemed to think this was an Agarve, there seem to be so many varieties of Agarve, Any ideas??

Something I have read tonight, when an Agarve flowers it dies? Typical it chooses my garden to peg it! .

IMO, it looks more like a yucca than an agave. Agaves have spines on the edges of the leaves, and if your plant does, I can't see them in the pic. (Could just be me, though. )

If it's a yucca, I would say it's likely to be Yucca gloriosa 'Variegata'.

Unlike agaves, which die after they bloom, your yucca should bloom for you every year. They're very pretty. Just be careful not to give it too much water.
