Pruning a Desert Rose to get it to bloom

This is Pete (and no, I didn't name him after Pete Rose-I didn't even think about that until later).

Can I prune him (and if so, where) to get him to bloom?

Also, what size pot should he be in?

Your pot size is fine for now as it is not an overly big plant yet.( in fact it is a small seedling) However you need to be sure this is in a well draining potting mix..Adeniums are a succulent and they will rot if over watered or if the soil stays wet to long.

You can prune it back to encourage more branching and a bigger caudex. Blooming takes time but pruning will encourage this some also. But the looks of your plant I would say prune it and just let it grow...it may take a year or more for it to bloom...these are very slow growing plants and from seed to bloom can take anywere from 2-7 years.

Thee plant need lots of sun and heat to bloom also..they ar not happy just being a house plant.
