SoCal is a perfect place to grow aloe from what I've experienced.

There are many different species but the most common Aloe Vera plant thrives in a warm climate. Plant in a well draining soil with full sun. Water regularly until established but Aloe's are a drought tolerant plant.

 I reread your subject title and googled the plant name.

It's a rare type of Aloe but still quite able to grow in our - the SoCal - climate. Actually, the southwest is probably the best location for this type of plant since originally it is found in South Africa.

Good luck and keep us posted on your results. :)
