Is this a schlumbergera ?

Can you help me identify this plant ? I think it's a schlumbergera, but could be Rhipsalidopsis? I can't find any with purple stems, like mine. (I hope the photo is accessible - how do I get the photo in the body of the text, rather than just a link ?)

Yes to the Schlumbergera; also known as (here in the states) - Christmas Cactus.

Yours is quite lovely. :)

I apologize. Upon closer look, the flowers are different. I believe you have a Rhipsalidopsis.

Any idea what kind ? I haven't been able to find any mention of ones with that colour of stems.

Likely juls meansR. gaertneri, which, to further confuse the topic, is now Hatiora gaertneri

Or a hybrid...

Yes, HG, I found many different varieties - genus species (hybrid) and it was quite confusing. :? I knew it as a Christmas Cactus years ago, then as Thanksgiving cactus, then holiday cactus and more recently as easter cactus. I think with every common name came a different genus species name??? Anyway...

roosky, the stems may change or be a different color due to different or varying amounts of water and light. Just a thought.

Again, though, your plant is lovely. Good work and care you give.

Aha, I didn't know the stems could change colour due to water or light ! Maybe I could take a cutting, and keep it in a different room with less light, and see what happens. For a cutting, would I simply take off a bit of stem and stick it in a pot ? Presumably after flowering has finished /
