Dying and can't find breed

Hi, I bet your all sick of new owners with no clue

It was going well for the first month or so then I went away for just over a week at easter and forgot about it  it seemed very dry when we got back and the leaves and blossom more brittle and falling off, over the last few weeks I've been making sure it has water (probably overwatering and making it worse) and more and more keep falling, is there any way to save it? I also think the roots don't seem very well integrated as it feels very spongy around the base of it? and the soil just feels like it has been dug out a garden, I have added a few little fertiliser stick things to it that came with the tree.

Leo, your tree has passed. Dry and crispy leaves are the tell-tale. Save the pot, Ditch the soil. Start over with a new tree, in new soil.

Dead trees are the price of admission to bonsai.

Its not that you have a few, it is will you learn from your experiences?
