Need help IDing my first bonsai!

Hello all,

A couple weeks ago I purchased a bonsai tree from a vender at craft show/festival. The vender gave me a pamphlet for the Elephant Jade Portulacaria Afra but when I researched this particular type of bonsai, I found that it doesn't look like mine.

My bonsai sleeps at night and has thorns. The leaves are very delicate. I live in South Carolina and it stays indoors by my kitchen window and gets moderate-full sunlight. I've been watering about every other day. Several new growths have appeared since I've had it.

I'd like to identify it to make sure I'm taking care of it properly.

Look at: Texas Ebony, Acacia, Mesquite. Much less likely Kentucky Coffee, Locust.

Your new tree looks to be a legume. The fist two trees I list are tender trees, the last three hearty. So in a shallow pot your tree should work with any bonsai or cactus soil mix.
