Possible Spruce... ID? & care tips please.

Hello All.
I received a Bonsai as a gift from Walmart. It came in a tall retancular pot with no identification. It looks very much like the Alberta Spruce shown here. At issue is that the color in now off and the plant appears to be dry. I care for it according to the directions but no improvement. any Suggestons?

Thanks

Teerah - With no other clues given I would guess that you might have been keeping your tree in the house??

Read this thread from the beginning and see that the Alberta spruce needs to be kept outdoors - even in the snow. That's how it survived for 9 years basically unattended. Imagine if it had been pruned, repotted (with root trimming), fertilized, and styled from time to time, and given the sunshine it deserves!!! But it is alive. It survived because it was outdoors. (congrats Dianne)

Did the directions from WalMart indicate that yours is an indoor (tropical) tree?

Teerah,

Can you please give us some more information?

Also please post some pictures if you are able. It is difficult to make suggestions without knowing what kind of plant we are talking about. I don't recall ever seeing Spruce being sold as bonsai at these types of retailers. It's more likely a Juniper, but that's just a guess.

In the meantime, look here for basic watering tips. Watering is often the source of difficulties.
