Hello everyone, I have my compost from last year that is as finished as it's going to get I believe but there is some sand particles in it which to me seems like that's a ok thing because it's will help aerate the compost? I have sand where I live and when I bag up my grass clippings and fall leaves I cannot avoid sucking up some sand in the mix. I will try to pics later today. If not a good thing what can I mix in the pile to help it? Thanks all in advance.
Sand is a good thing. It’s basically mineral and will contribute to the aggregate texture without making it sticky and soggy. Since compost tends to be moisture holding, sandy soil is better than clay soil when they end up in the compost pile with other ingredients.
