Hello everyone,
I really want to make compost tea, but I have not molasses for use in the compost, and I wonder if it is possible to use sugar instead of molasses? tks Renato

I believe molasses has a bit of extra micronutrients and calcium, iron, etc minerals that make it better, but I think sugar could supply the sugar component. Raw or turbinado sugar would be better than white sugar, and brown sugar -- especially dark brown sugar would have some of the same nutrients and minerals as molasses.
You might compensate by adding some bran or wheat germ....

I have read bunch of articles where people recommend to use sweets like
sugar
jam
home made beet syrup (do not remember proportions , but 2:3 sugar to beet or vice versa)
stuff which used to brew beer and looks like molasses - forgot name now.
basically anything sweet in same proportion. Some people would report placing and jam and molasses, while I would wonder why...
Note: I just read information, did not try it myself. I would agree, molasses has minerals and stuff and also promotes grows of beneficial bacteria.
