Just carried out 2 buckets of kitchen greens. Raked back the insulating layer of browns (it's still March and my pile is still in the shade until the sun gets a little higher). It looked like a smoke stack with all that steam rising from the center where I raked back to the mixed layer. Measured 125 degrees. Smilled . Added greens and mixed in some browns. Added the other bucket of greens and mixed in more browns. Put on another 4" insulating layer.
This pile has cooked well for me (100 to 115), even on some cold days. Zone 8 cold days. I hope the rest of you are starting to see results with your piles. Good luck guys.
