Eggshells and Earthworms

I understand one can place eggshells atop the soil to kill slugs, as the shells will make small cuts on their soft bodies. Will the same happen to the earthworms in my compost if eggshells are added?

I think it depends on the size and condition of the shells.

For slug control, I use hard boiled egg shells and roughly crushed shells.

For compost, I generally put in whole cracked raw egg shell halves (but also table scrap shells from boiled eggs). You have to assume worms can avoid getting injured from occasional sharp edges.

But vermicomposters put finely ground eggshells in the worm bin for the worms to aid their digestion.
