too much nitrogen? (green matter) in compost

How can i tell of i have too much green matter ot to littl of it so it can heat up? any way to fix this? same for brown. Been sittin there a day or so and nothing. Please help.

Well for one thing, your compost will stink. Also it will become really, really hot. Though, a hot compost with a 50:50 ratio of greens to browns that is turned daily will become extremely hot as well.

Try to ere on the side of caution, adding lots of browns (I like leaves much more than nespaper) as compost that stinks has gone anaerobic and then it is pretty much a losing battle. It can be ammended but, won't be nearly as bad as a true aerobic compost.

(Ammend with more browns and lots and lots of turning)
