composting cooked tomatoes?

I make tomato sauce using store bought canned tomatoes, garlic, onions, olive oil and spices. After simmering for about an hour, I put it through a food mill. Is it ok to compost the solids left in the food mill?

There's nothing wrong with organic leftovers from the kitchen, even if they were canned (thus laced with some preservatives and salts) :)

And the compost pile does not really care whether you cooked something before it went in. Any kind of leftovers and plate scrapings go into the pile at our house.

I could use some of those to really jump-start the latest batch of leaves and office shred!!!!!!

Compost with reckless abandon, wooooot!!!!!!!
