citrus pulp in compost?

Is it terrible to put citrus pulp into my compost? I just got a juicer and have been adding the pulp to the compost. I'm sure its probobly to acidic...?

Worms won't like it much, I would not add it to a vermi-composting set-up.

it won't hurt anything in a compost bin.

Agree, it's fine, unless you are adding tons of it. We generally say no more than 10% of your pile should be any one ingredient (like citrus pulp). If you are sticking to that principle, the acid will get balanced out with other stuff.

The acids in citrus are organic acids, and they will decompose in the composting process. Composting tends to bring the ingredients toward a neutral state, and that's certainly true with citrus.

Not a problem, but it helps to cut them in half first. Peels are kind of tough, breaks down a lot quicker if the microbes etc can get to the soft insides.

My first compost pile we have a coffee can inside to carry it out side.
I'm just trying to get the stuff in the compost pile to keep the house clean.

Your kitchen waste and yard waste are the Job creators of a healthy micro-herd.
