Is it ok not to cover my compost bin?
Well I have this compost bin in my backyard and it doesn't have a cover, is that ok?

yes you're right, but what will happen if they get too wet? Is that something I should worry about?rot wrote:..
It's OK to leave the bin uncovered but, I find it helpful to do so. During the rainy season the cover keeps my bin from getting too wet. Otherwise it helps keep my bin from drying out in the sun.

Not that much will happen.
If the bin gets too wet, it will get soggy and air won't get in and the process will slow down. Maybe it gets a little stinky. Wait awhile longer and it will still compost.
If things get dry, wait awhile and things will eventually compost.
Don't fret. It will all rot into compost. It just might take a little longer to do so without a cover.
Not all my bins have covers. I still get compost. Some just take longer.
