hundreds of beans sprouting from my compost

I tossed a few lbs of very old dried beans in the compost, and they are going wild! I added more greens to heat up the pile so they will cook. Is that going to take care of them?

I would have let them grow half a ft or so then tilled them in, this way you turn get all this green material and they fix a little N while growing. I bet if you turn the pile youll have some more sprout as I doubt they all sprouted the first go.

Turn your volunteer beans back under in the pile. They won't hurt a thing.

It was probably time to wave a potato fork at the pile anyway...

I guess your beans weren't that old as you thought they were... Have a nice bean soup...If you have space, I would just let them grow and start another pile.
