rain water and nitrogen ???
Anyone know how long nitrogen stays in rain water?? I have a 55 gal barrel that I use to catch rain water in, and it usually never goes dry, so I was wondering if you leave rain water sitting for long periods of time does the nitrogen ever leach out? I have the barrel covered with an old privacy curtain ( kinda like a smaller weave than canvas) to keep mosquitos and everything out of it, and to filter out the gunk such as leaves and dirt.

I don't think it matters because the air we breath is about 70% nitrogen.
If you want to make your own organic nitrogen build a Tesla Coil. I can turn this on in my garage and in 30 seconds the Ozone is so strong I have to go outside for fresh air.

The trick is to find a way so the plants can use nitrogen.

ok but how long will it stay in the barrel is my main question? I use this water to water my plants, and I just want to know how long it will hold the N before it all evaporates, or leeches, or whatever it does. Thanks for the replies! Gary looks like an awesome toy! But I think that's a lil much for what I want! lol I just want a lil N for the plants, not a stun gun for the neighbors pets!!! lmao
