Any thoughts or comments regarding melon rinds added to compost? Fruit fly magnet ? Mold collector? Nitrogen or carbon? Watermelon, honeydew or cantilope- any one better than the other? Any info would be great.
Thanks.
(sorry if this has been covered before)

Yes, I add any type of melon rinds that we have. I like to slice them into thin pieces before adding to the compost pile or bin; they disappear (decompose) fast!Skian wrote:Any thoughts or comments regarding melon rinds added to compost?
If your pile is already pretty wet, the rinds can be a problem. It's nice to have some "dry browns" handy if you're adding a lot of "green" vegetable scraps to the compost.
