composting muck

I have a container of black muck that was some potting soil but have since become swampy muck because I neglicted to provide for drainage(newbie mistake I made last year). So recent rain have turned it into black mud, it smells kind of bad. What should I do with it? compost it or just dump it and mix it in with my garden soil?

If it smells bad, I'd put it on the compost pile, for some bioremediation, not in your garden soil.

Go with what Rainbow says
Just incase there's something that will sour your soil it is best to let the compost microbes have a chance to nuetralize your muck.

spread it on a tarp and dry it out. it just went anaerobic, when it dries out and the anaerobic microbes meet air most of them will die and become food for your soil.

I'd throw it in the compost.
