Compost Tea Water Color

I made some compost tea a couple days ago. I took a few gallons of water and a couple hand fulls of compost, stirred it up, and let it sit 24 hours. Yesterday, I used it, and I noticed that even after re-stirring the water, it wasn't very dark. The water was pretty clear, with bits of compost swirling around in it.

What should I expect and did I do anything wrong?

I usually take a 5 gallon bucket of compost and fill it with water. Let is set over night and pour off the water the next morning. Water likes like dark ice tea or coffee. I know it is suppose to work great to fertilize plants but I have better luck with dirt tea. Put a large shovel of GOOD dirt in a 5 gallon bucket and fill it with water stir well and let the dirt settle to the bottom. I water the seeds that I am sprouting with this and they grow great.
