Composting Sod?

So for my new bed I have dug up the sod. I have soil with a good bit of clay and rocks the need to be removed so finding a way to leave it wasn't an option.

Now, I'm left with a big pile of sod and dirt. I took as little dirt as possible, but there's a lot there. What's the best way to compost this stuff?

I'm thinking cop it up, mix in as much organic matter and manure as possible, and then just lit it sit? Maybe with a plastic sheet over the top?

With all the dirt I'd like to avoid having to constantly turn this stuff :lol:
