Yesterday we had the final pre-surgery consultation with the clinic Dietitian, Health & Fitness Specialist and the Surgeon.
Wednesday was George's last day on Coumadin. Today he started twice daily Lovenox shots. He is eating lots of Brussel's Sprouts. Yesterday was the last day for fruit on his diet plan. We report to the hospital at 5 a.m. Monday. His surgery should begin 7:30ish.
Most patients spend one night in the hospital. Because George is on Coumadin he will likely have to remain a second night. It depends on how quickly his Coumadin level gets to where it is supposed to be.
We are both excited and anxious.
Keep us in your thoughts and prayers.

I think it is very admirable what you two are doing. It is a major commitment to getting healthier.
Since I am the same age, I know that this time of life is when all the birds come home to roost and you pay for how you have lived your life. When you are in your twenties you can smoke cigarettes, drink too much, live on pizza and beer and never exercise and never feel it. You don't have to be aware of how bad it all is for you.
Not so now!
Best Wishes!
