The iPad you left in the sun on the bench refuses to wake up saying "I'm too hot -- I can't work like this.... Put me in a shade so I can cool down....."
The actual alert message displayed was " This iPad needs to cool down before you can use it" -- it was nearly too hot to hold too.
When it's imperative that you keep a pair of anything for your feet right at the back door, because you can't set foot on the deck without frying your soles.
...when your CAT is panting. Heh. Our cat did this in the summer of '88 after we moved into a new home with no A/C. That was the hottest summer I remember.
When you are out at the crack of dawn to do your outdoor chores and return to the A/C by 8 a.m.
When you either do your grocery shopping late at night or before dawn.
When a Southern Woman doesn't wear make-up during the day because it melts off the minute she steps outside.
When you use ceiling fans 24/7 to augment the A/C.
July in south Louisiana.

When the plant pots are so hot you get a first degree burn when you try to move them. No wonder the plants are wilting.
...when you have to hose down your head and face to keep from getting too hot by mid-morning, then start to feel lightheaded only an hours later... And realize your head and hair have COMPLETELY DRIED ALREADY ...only thing that was giving me a modicum of relief was that the back of my T-shirt was still damp and plastered to my back.... But that could have been sweat.

Good things to do on really hot days
--stroll an air conditioned mall
---see a matinee movie and it is usually cheaper too
---- go to the beach or the pool
---- Have a cooler handy with lots of ice and cold drinks available
---- Get up early and garden in the morning and in the evening and relax in the middle of the day, preferably at the mall.
----- re apply sun screen every 2 hours and use sun sleeves. Use a waterproof sun screen or it will melt and burn your eyes.
Yes, these days when it is still chilly in the morning and beautiful in the afternoon, I tend to do my computer and other indoor stuff in the AM and then go garden. In the summer, I will need to turn that around.
