Customer of the week

My farmers market customer of the week goes to a woman I hadn't seen this season, and figured she may have moved to another part of town. Well, showed up, with pre-teen daughter, all smiles and apologetic (as she hadn't been a customer), both. She had bought a few herbs from me before, trying to do more scratch cooking. She's on limited income, and trying to do the right thing (I usually padded her small purchase). She was so proud to tell me she has an herb pot growing! We talked about it, and I helped her pick out 2 herb starts that should work. I gifted her a small annual red salvia to add a bit of color.

What a nice story! One of the many reasons farmer's markets are nicer than grocery stores. Who would have a personal connection like that in a big supermarket/grocery and when would anyone get treated like that?

That is a wonderful story & you're a wonderful vendor Susan!

But let's not diss all "big supermarket/grocery" stores please. Our local Martins has WONDERFUL seafood/meat & produce managers who I've become friendly with over the years & who give me all sorts of "discounts", heads up on future sales, etc., etc. And I seriously doubt that it's just me that they treat this way. Not all "big supermarket/grocery" stores are full of meanies.
