When I acquired these cut up skid panels in the top photo, the guy threw in the two narrower panels with the metal rings attached to them and another narrow panel in for free. Looking at them, my daughter is wondering if *I* could make a bench swing out of them to replace the two strap seat swings on the swing set that my DD's no longer use.

It doesn't look like I could remove the rings from the one and secure them to the other one. I'm wondering if there would be a way to secure them together and turn the two narrow panels into seat and back, then attach the swing chain to the 4 rings?

I am completely lost. I don't know how to do it.

Does anyone have an idea?

Those rings will unscrew by sticking a rod or something through the eye and turning counter clockwise. They are actually preforming a duel purpose. 1) to lift, or tie down the heavy crate, and 2) to bolt the crate together. After you screw the eye off, you will see a carriage bolt running through those three different dimensions of wood. Use anything handy to act as a drift pin to knock the carriage bolt back through the sandwiched boards. Now you can cut the boards to the size you want, and then reuse the eyebolts in the same manner.

I went out to study the rings/eyes and the lagbolts and I see what you are saying.

I also learned what they are called so I was able to look up more details about what they are and how they are used. (Also, someone was selling one of those eyes for $25 on eBay....)
