Pathetic Postal Service

So, What's the story on international shipping. Why should a package meant for Canada be down in California. It arrived in California the day after shipping and it looks to be there still . So Priority mail really isn't Priority. 1-3 days is BS!

Wow that's pretty extreme -- my guess >> your package was hijacked by mice who wanted to go to balmy Disneyland for their winter vacation. If you're lucky, they'll release your package to fly north, and take "another flight" to return home.

I was participating in a round robin of tomato seeds, and the package which was sent to me from a central NJ location about an hour's drive away headed NORTH instead of south towards me. It went to a sorting facility about an hour north, then was routed to my address -- now approximately two hours travel south, passing the sender's town along the way.

I should be accustom to this nonsense. If I wanted to send a letter to my neighbor, 200ft away, it would go off Island first. Homeland Security I believe is why it goes through Everett Wa.

I work a day a week for a local newspaper for a little retirement spending money. We send newspapers all over our area of Nebraska via USPS. A couple of years ago we had 18 different Post Offices where big bags of papers were sorted. We are now down to 9 and it takes two full days for a paper to be delivered to a Post Office nine miles away that used to be delivered the same day the paper was printed.

A local letter, according to our Postmistress, delivered to our local PO to be sent from Nebraska to Missouri which is about a half mile across the Missouri River goes to a larger town east of us 10 miles to Lincoln , Ne. 70 miles away, then to Topeka, Kansas 100 miles south, then to Kansas City, Mo 75 miles east to Maryville, Mo. 100 miles north, then 65 miles west to the town we can see across the river. Soon the Topeka sorting facility will be closed in a money saving move and the mail will go either south from Ne 250 mile to Wichita or 500 mile west to Denver before heading to KC.

I think the Postal Service is trying hard to make things as difficult as possible to prove they need to either have more money or for the retirement money they used not to have to cover be taken back for the taxpayer to pay.

The worst thing I can say to the boss after I have delivered the newspapers to the PO is, "It is now in the hands of the USPS."

My mom once had a flight from Boston to portland Oregon that went to Texas first then up to Portland. I make sure she gets direct flights now.

Just some personal information. My ex-sister-in-law works for the post office. she started in Lake Charles, LA. The post office was closed. She had an option - move to Lafayette and live in a hotel room or apartment paid for by the postal service or stay in Lake Charles and show up for work each day and do nothing. She opted to move to Lafayette. She had a hotel suite for 10 months. Of course per diem was included. She then moved to another temporary position in New Iberia and lived in a paid for apartment for a year.

The folks that opted to stay in Lake Charles showed up for work each day and did nothing. Ow well - they read, knitted, played cards, chess or board games. Worked on personal craft projects. One woman brought her sewing machine to work so she could do alterations for paying customers.

SOOO are you really shocked by the inefficiency of our postal system?

I'm still getting Christmas cards after Christmas.

I did get a bill with a statement date of 12/10/13 that is due on New years day. It arrived Friday or Saturday. Sunday no mail. I drove down to the office and dropped it in the mail slot because if I mailed it today it would never get there before the first. To make matter worse the "office is closed on 12/31 and 1/1/13.

Apple, The package is heading for FORT SASKATCHEWAN ALBERTA (CANADA). Checked again this morning. 15 days and still not there.

I feel better about South African Postal Services now. lol

Although you should all stop complaining because Amazon stopped using our postal service because the packages all kept getting stolen. Now we have to pay for courier delivery, which is not always all that fast. I have been waiting for a package since 1 Dec that is now missing (tracking says it's in New York, NY) although the other half of the same order arrived in 3 days. Go figure.

same thing happened to me. first time I got something delivered to me from online, it got sent to long island new york instead of canada. my city is yorkton, maybe they got that mixed up with new york? idk. I think it had to do with the ups crash for christmas. the guy that got the package sent it to us and we got it, so we lucky I guess.
