I got bored over the winter so here are some home improvements. The drama is in the changes I hope.

- A little detail. This slab has blue, purple, burgundy and green in it. When we lay underneath the cook top cut out, there is so much quartz we could see light through the granite.

If this isn't wasting too much bandwidth I'll add more as time permits. This is the wet bar in our hallway that is actually the last thing I ever build or ever will build. I officially have no more cabinet tools. All sold...

Thank you Roger. I'm particularly proud of mom's bath. It's a Euro-zero lift shower. Instead of a step over threshold, it has a 3/4" rise on the entry side and the same grade down to the drain. It allows a handicap person to be rolled into the shower in a plastic chair, wash them, dry them and roll them back to a wheel chair. I'm happy to say that in spite of of only a weighted shower curtain and the small grade, it doesn't leak.

More porch.

- The entire exterior of the new porch and actually the whole house is maintenance free except for shingles. We replaced wooden deck boards with composites. I discovered them on boat docks. They don't get warm in hot direct sun. I don't know how or why but they don't. The screen frames and rails are lifetime guaranteed finishes.

Thank you Cynthia. The photos are misleading because I haven't got the hang of ordering them. Those rafter works of art were covered with metal. The picture with the white vaulted ceiling and grey walls is the end result. I do love spacing out on rafter layout though. That is a hip roof with a tray ceiling. It's right high falootin for a screen porch.
I'm a total fool for exposed-beam construction (vaulted ceiling) and, of course, the wood grain in the cabinets, porch, etc., is to die for.All the work is just wonderful.

We reduced the pitch on the valley but left it. I thought the valley added some eye candy. I'll try to see if I cab catch it in a picture but the house forms a "U" and I can't get back far enough at the right angle to catch it. Nice catch.

The kitchen is just inside the French doors and there is a double wide opening to the dining room through the kitchen. We can sit on one side of the dining table and watch a fabulous bird show on the deck and just passed it. Beyond the feeders is the garden. Somebody must have planned it that way. We get to eat the garden and watch it grow at the same time.

- You can see the main garden close in and way in the back are the new raised beds. They are in full motion with potatoes, squash, pink eye purple hull peas, carrots and onions.

Charlie - what can be said? This is an amazing transformation. I love the wood combination. The coutertops are gorgeous. The Bathroom is great. I know about that. My 23 year old niece has CP and is confined to a wheel chair. Accessable bathrooms/showers are something we all need to think about as we get older. Who know when a wheel chair accessable shower will be necessary. You had a VERY busy winter! Great job! How much did you do yourself and how much did you contract? Just curious. Beautiful job!

Elizabeth I owned a very high end cabinet shop for 30 years. I evolved into a teacher with an apprentice program and did nothing but teach and design for the last ten years. This job, yard etc is all my design but I subbed everything except the wet bar. The wet bar is the last thing I will ever build. I sold my last piece of shop equipment a year ago.
I wanted the house to have one built in that I did. I built every stick of non upholstered furniture in the house though. Thank you for the compliments.
