I've been "retired" for quite a few years now. The growing season is still very active for me. Produce is grown not only for the home but for sale at the farmers' market. This has been going on right thru my "retirement" and . . . it keeps me outta trouble.
As I've reported elsewhere on the forums, my ground is still frozen. Onion seeds have gone into a few flats but we are still a week away from even dropping some pepper and snapdragon seeds in the starting mix . . . Not much to any of that - not for awhile, anyway .
Usually, I have a late winter project. A couple of years ago, I replaced a carport, along side the garage. Last year, I painted 2 rooms here in the house. Two years ago, we had the contractors remodel a bedroom, bathroom and put a new roof on. For about 6 weeks, there wasn't much for DW and me to do but cling to each other on the living room couch with all the construction confusion going on around us !!
I have to replace the plastic film on the south wall of the greenhouse this year. It isn't a job I'm looking forward to and the weather hasn't cooperated yet, to make it possible.
So, cooking a few of my one-pot wonders and keeping myself and my immediate environment tidy is about all I've been up to. DW has been up to her usual baking and such . . . then, picking on me for eating too much pie .
Yesterday, I got kind of an impatient look from her! Seems that she may be getting a little intolerant of my lay-about activities .
Fortunately today, DD is beginning to paint the interior of the home she will be moving into by the end of the month! There is some molding to be replaced and I have volunteered my handsaw and miter box . . . may as well go along with them.
Working for DD is a little "frightening!" She is the bossy kind . . . Luckily I've done some stretching exercises this morning and I'll be sure to let my hearing aid batteries expire as soon as I get to the "job site."
