What I do when not gardening (build huge houses) Pic intense

In another thread it came up that we build house up to and past 30 million $. This is a current house we are on. I am a mason (bricklayer/stonemason,block whatever). We are doing the masonry on this house. When it started out it was estimated at about $37 millon, it has gone beyond that. That doesn't inlcude the horse stables that are nicer than my house and huge as well and the riding arena that is about 10 times the size of my house and the, and the and the.

It's not a house, it's a compound, like back in the days of feudal lords. They just need to build a few little houses for stablehands, blacksmith, cooks, gardeners etc to live in...

You crack me up. When i put the pics on my pc I put the word compound after the owners name. :P As for houses for the help they are there too.

Don't think they have a gradeners house though yet. Nedd to talk to them about that.

They actually big a huge apratment in the stables that they have some foreign horse experts living in to take care of the horses. Guatamala comes to mind. something like that.

On the "compound" they bought and refurbished a million dollar house past the stables so they could live there and oversee the building.

When I owned my cabinet shop we built cabinets for a few of those. I never understood why they had us build cabinets in the main kitchen that reached 16 feet in the air. My wife was taking a crock pot out of the cabinet above our refrigerator. The lid was in the pot upside down. When she grabbed the pot with both hands, she tilted it and the heavy glass lid fell out and caught her right between the eyes. It darn near knocked her out cold.

I would have to pad the entire kitchen for her if we had 16 foot tall cabinets. This particular house was 3 stories and 9000 square feet per story. Each floor had it's own kitchen and 3 or 4 bathrooms.

Compound is the perfect word.

Won't buy happiness . . .

The home, Dono, reminds me of the place across the road from my big veggie garden. (I don't own any of the property out there, just have a garden.) I guess if the home you are working on includes another residence and horse stables, then, it reminds me of the place across the road AND one more place across the road  !

Anyway, the larger "place" could not be completed before all work stopped and it went on the market. I know 2 sisters who looked at it. One sister and her husband decided to buy a home about 300 miles away, instead. Hardly matters to them since they haven't lived in the US for about 15 years now. I think they want a 2nd residence for seasonal living during their retirement.

The other sister looked at the same home. Her husband said that he might have to sell one of his 4 other homes so as to buy it. They had recently married and were living in his wife's home. She dumped him -- he stayed on in her house until the bank foreclosed. Oh yeah, he went off to serve 6 months in a federal penitentiary about then  . Another little "business deal" that went bad.

I suppose that sister got the better deal altho' she lost her little home, didn't get a chance at the great big house and her marriage ended. At least, she got rid of the jerk . . .

Maybe that all sounds like something out of Faulkner. I am a little amazed that I know any of these people! Lucky the property owner for my garden doesn't! He'd probably throw me out for being involved in some kind of conspiracy to compromise the morality of the neighborhood.

Steve

Charlie,
Peppercorn, She has been around the block once or twice.

She has also been over the mountain, through the woods, over the river. She is known all over the island. Little Miss Wanderer. She's been picked up by the Sheriff a few times.

Sorry about the off topic chatter.
