Short Day

8:30 and the sun just peaked over the mountain. Its 12° and there is 2 inches of fresh snow on the ground. Happy Winter!

Coincidentally, my daughter who is currently interested in sled dogs and wolves of Alaska just looked up sunrise in Nome, Alaska: It is currently 2° there and sun rises at 12:02PM (and sets at 3:56PM)!!!

Sun is currently not up where I am until about 8AM and sets soon after 5PM, but is barely visible the rest of the time.... grey, grey, grey.

The only reason I like the solstice is that it means the days will start getting longer!
