Any birders out there? Or anyone who just enjoys competition? orhumor?
I've seen the movie and read the book "The Big Year". Both very enjoyable.
I know I'll never do "A Big Year", at least not on that scale. The obsession to get birds in these three men was impressive , not to mention the breadth of their travels or the $$$ it took.. Maybe I could do a county big year, something more manageable !

Has anyone else seen/read these, or better yet, done a big year?

Yeah, not my style either. I prefer to get to know what's right around me as well as I can. Where I used to live on a 5 acre property with woods and meadow, garden and lawn, I was over 60 bird species counted from my bedroom window. That's my kind of list!
