mmm .... how do you like them apples

Fascinating article - I'll have to see if my library is getting this book.

I grew up in 'apple country' but it was wiped out around the time of the Great Depression by some kind of blight that was still hanging around 50 years later (tried and failed on fruit trees) so we went with evergreens and a kitchen garden instead.
