DAVID BOWIE PASSED AWAY

David Bowie passed away of cancer, two days after his birthday and days after the release of his latest album. I'm not one to idolize pop stars or musicians, I feel much of the adulation is unmerited. But David Bowie has been an exception. He was more than an entertainer, he was that rare artist and craftsman who elevated his craft. His music had a way of being both extroverted and introverted, the kind that can be enjoyed at a party and with headphones. Most artists make one kind or the other. His music also had a timeless quality to it that allowed it to endure and inform generations about culture, the world, human nature and themselves.

Rest in peace. Truly a sad day.
