How to make a healing salve based on Vaseline?

I would use it on shallow paper cuts etc. Any ideas? I might think mixing Vaseline with aloe vera gel?

Is there some reason you want Vaseline? I would think coconut oil would be better as it prevents scarring and has healing properties.

Raw honey would be good too. It was often used in ancient times on cuts...but it's a bit goopy.

I agree with the aloe idea.

I just use the aloe vera leaf for minor cuts

gotu kola has wound healing properties and has chemicals which help improve blood flow in venous insufficiency. It can be used as a poultice or a tea.

Plantain has anti inflammatory and antibacterial properties. It is often used to treat insect bites (snakes are not supposed to be here), and minor scrapes and cuts.

But, except for aloe vera, I usually have a first aid kit at home and a smaller first aid kit in my car that contains zinc ointment, neosporin, first aid cream, benadryl, a few pieces of guaze and band aids. I just have to remember to inspect and replace items at least once a year.

It makes a good medium for the actual healing substances, plus it moisturizes the wounded skin and sticks the edges of small cuts together. Thanks guys! I will try both of those, maybe even coconut oil too!

Vaseline I would think would be good as a barrier like for diaper rash or burns.

I've also heard that cayenne pepper powder on a wound encourages clotting...but I bet it burns.

Me too. Way too much for a paper cut. Actually flour on a wound can encourage clotting! Tried it and loved it. But it doesn't work when mixed into Vaseline.

I thought the usual salve combination is heated beeswax and oil -- used to be olive oil, almond oil, but coconut oil is major now. I love how coconut oil is completely absorbed and just disappears into the skin.

Sometimes for a quick mix/fix, I just combine a dab of coconut oil with a drop of vitamin E and a drop or two of tincture in my palm.

Aloe Vera is easy too -- break off a leaf, squeeze out gel.

Honey I find to be too sticky most of the time and it turns "runny" on skin (from heat?) -- but I do use it sometimes with bandage. Most of the time, I underestimate the amount of coverage needed so that using a band-aid type covering is inadequate -- oozes out from the edges and gets on everything.
