For you computer geeks

I just ordered a 500GB SSD drive and a sled to install it in my Mac Pro tower. I am going to put my operating system, programs, and my samples for music on it, to spped things up.
It will reduce my drive size but soild state drives are very fast, I will still have 3 other drives in the machine, a 3TB, and two 2 TB drives, for 7.5 TB in the case, and I will have four 1 TB drives as back up drives out side of the case, for a grand total of 11.5TB of hard drive space. That should hold me for now.

In a few years after they update them I may have to get one of these new Mac Pros that look like a can.

How is the drive working out for you?

not going to lie my brother had to translate that ;) sounds like a great addition!

I currently edit my videos and such on my Apple laptop from about 6 years ago. it has so little memory I have to keep only the clips I am working on. the rest are on an external HD which I have to back up some time soon!

I'm thinking of getting one of the hard drives myself. I am awaiting the delivery of 16GB of RAM and once I get it I'll update my new computer that's sitting on the floor waiting to be unboxed.

The solid state drive is amazing, it loads on start up way faster, and programs load very fast, photos and files are there almost instantly. It makes the whole machine feel faster. If you are thinking go getting one it is well worth it, IMHO.

my brother has his computer completely solid state. starts in just under 3 seconds or 0.3 seconds anyways silly fast!

when this computer dies I think I will invest in one ;) it is not like I don't use them for a long time!
