Mark All Forums Read

or something like it.

Can we have the "Mark All Forums Read" button back. It used to be at the bottom of the page.

Interesting, didn't notice until now that it was missing.

It's at the top of the page, in the main forum section, to the right of where it says the name of the forum. You can see it in the main view of this forum, for example

Nah! That is only for Garden Form. I'm talking about the one at the bottom of the main page that marked all forums read.

I'm wondering how many people use it. I'm just trying to streamline the home page. But if many people are using it then I'll put it back.

Is the home page where members need it? Does that mean it's not needed elsewhere?

Thanks!

I used both, but if I only have one choice, I prefer the broad-brush "Mark all Forums Read.

Many of the Forums I have no interest in. It's a PITA to go into each and mark all post read.

depends on how it works.

right now if I'm looking right, it appears only when in a specific 'section' from the main index level page
so does that mark the section, or the entire Forum, as read?

note that the option to mark as read does not appear when looking at "posts since last visit"
or any thread accessed from "posts since last visit"

it would make more sense to me to have 'mark all' at the section index level.
why?
I log in, next action is "posts since last visit"
so, iffin' I'm totally bored with a raft of topics, how do I mark the whole world as read?

note - the term / option is 'since last visit' - not 'unread messages'
note there is no option for 'show me unread messages'

note there is no option for 'show me today's messages'
this is actually a valuable thing. there are times when I come here and trip over a message where I would care to post a reply however comma and so-forth, I don't have the time to 'work' on that reply at that instant. there is no convenient method to "find" that message again.

if there is such a thing as "mark /follow / subscribe topic" - sorry, I reject that. all that does is make for yet more work later on to "un-" whatever it is I "did"

if I'm unable to generate a reply within 24 hours, probably best left to go to dust anyway.

I have suggested before "see today's messages" would be a nice feature. There are times when for one reason or another I have opened the forum up, but then had to quit again (or my computer crashed). When I come back, it is now a different "visit" so whatever I didn't look at before is gone.

Personally, I don't think I even knew there was a Mark as Read button and I don't really care about it.

see, that's because you participate.

believe it or not, said Ripley, I can point you to Forums/boards where the admin / moderators insist issues exist because it is not possible for them to read all (15-20) messages per day.

no, you're not crazy. they are.
those kinds of Fori needs new management.

Only that section

it would make more sense to me to have 'mark all' at the section index level. I agree

so, iffin' I'm totally bored with a raft of topics, how do I mark the whole world as read? Currently you can't. That option has been removed.

I just don't open the forums that I don't want to read.

The option has been put back on the Index page. But you have to be logged in to see it. Thanks for the feedback!

Regarding discussions of the day, I'm going to make some more upgrades soon so hopefully we'll be able at that time to incorporate more features that members need. ;)

a very handy option is

"Today's Posts"

not infrequently I see something that I just cannot immediately take time to help with - then often it's a Easter Egg Hunt to "re-find"

I was just writing that I would like "today's" posts option as well because I lose the entire list from "since last visit" when the browser crashes (Safari, iPad) which has been rather frequent recently... And the browser crashed

I think I would like a mark as read button. Maybe also a last read button. More than once I have left the forum in order to do some research and could not find the post I wanted to respond to.

Oh well - I am not the most technically savvy person on board.

I'll start posting pictures again when the sight can take unhosted pictures. I just had too much trouble with people messing with my photobucket account and I dumped it not to mention it takes gobs of time to update.
