new lawn

I laid some new turf about a week ago have kept it well watered but how long should I wait before I give it the first feed thanks for any help

depending on what type of grass it is and what your soil is like will depend on what you feed it with. I was browsing the web and found this page

Feeding a new lawn
If you start your lawn in the spring it will require feeding again in early summer and again in fall. For this first feeding use half the rate recommended on the fertilizer package. Use the full recommended rate for the fall feeding.

Personally, when I lay turf, I add aged chicken manure to the base preperation mix before putting the turf over it.

This way you don't need to add any food during the first growing season which prevents any "burning" of the new grass.
