Advice on lawn

Hi,

I've had my garden landscaped last year, unfortunately there was insufficient topsoil on top of the drainage sand (in some areas, almost none) on the lawns resulting in poor condition grass once this started to grow, see pictures.

I was hoping to avoid having to dig the entire lawns up and re-lay them, this is going to be a costly and time consuming business, can anyone suggest any alternatives?

Many thanks.

Sandy soil requires more water. Aerate and topdress twice a year that will give your grass roots more places to grow and will help retain some water. Lawns are water hogs, if you want them to look good, you have to water, weed and feed them regularly.
