In ground sprinklers...drip or other..

My wife and I just purchased our first house and thankfully it has a small yard. We will need to re-sod the yard, and prior to doing that I want to install a sprinkler system. I never considered a drip irrigation system, but my step-dad mentioned thats what they have at their house. I'm completely comfortable installing this myself, but I'm curious which type of in-ground system is the best and what others think?

Drip system is for plants allowing them to be water where they need it. I cannot imagine how would you use this for sod. Maybe I missing here something?!
