St Augustine yellow spot is spreading help!

Hi everyone,
New to the forum but found the site and came to ask a question about st. Augustine. We had our backyard done last year with st Augustine, we also installed a sprinkler system. This year a yellowish spot formed and is getting bigger. We have sandy soil and the yard gets watered on even days for 30 mins per zone.
This spring we fertilized with organic chicken compost and soy meal fertilizer. We have a large tortoise that lives and eats back there and we have to be organic for him. Any advice on where to begin? It seems like the yard is growing tall but thinning in density. It was very dense when they out the sod down. Now it's not as dense but grows tall fast. Thanks in advance for the help!!
