Is my new grass dead? Can I save it?

Planted Scott's EZ seed bermuda. Was going well for four weeks, now looks to be struggling. How can I improve? I water twice a day, once before sun, once after. Thank you. Image below.

What kind of prep did you do for the new lawn? Was an herbicide used to control weeds before you planted the seeds?

New lawns may need water up to 4 times a day depending on how fast your soil drains. Sandy soils will need more water than clay and you want to saturate down to the root zone. You want to have a short water cycle in the middle of the day.

Soil was very compacted, tilling did nothing after one rain, just compacted again. That was the only prep I did. This is why I used Scott's EZ seed. No pesticide. So being compact, it does not drain fast. Watering in the middle of the day during high noon just steams the grass. We have 96 degree sun in Texas, so I water when the sun is down early and late.
