Mowing around bumblebees....

I was wondering how much of a problem these creates might present for me? THey're big and making me nervous... our lawn is filled with small white flowers which I usually plow through. I don't remember seeing this many of them bumblebees before, though maybe I didn't notice.
Do bumblebees fly away when they see or hear a large machine that makes a lot of noise? Or might they attack me?

Bumblebees are not at all aggressive. They will never "attack" you, in the sense of coming at you when you haven't done anything. Usually even if you bump into them, they will just move away. The main time I have heard of bumblebees stinging is in defense of their nest, if you were to blunder in to that. I suppose one might sting you if you put your hand down on top of it. You don't usually bump in to their nests, because they are in shady out of the way places.

Incidentally, the little white flowers in your lawn are clover and bees of all sorts love it.
