Found this:

There are four major cool season grasses which are favorable to conditions in Connecticut. These grasses are Kentucky Blue Grass, Perennial Rye Grass, Tall Fescue and Fine fescue lawns. Kentucky Bluegrass and Perennial Rye require the highest amount of maintenance of the four as regular fertilizing and adequate water supplies are necessary for a healthy lawn. Tall Fescues and Fine Fescues each perform well under low maintenance situations with Fine Fescues doing a little better under very low maintenance conditions. Meyer Zoysia (warm season grass) is occasionally planted in Conn.

6B is the USDA cold hardiness zone.

Many people just describe grasses in terms of warm season, cool season, transition:

I have never seen a grass zone system that is a number and letter. That would be the cold hardiness zones. The cold hardiness zones tell you NOTHING except what is the average minimum temperature reached in winter in that area (how cold does it typically get at the coldest). It conveys no other climate info - how warm in summer, how wet, etc. So it does not correlate very well with what type of grass to plant.
